Gunslingers,

I have the proud privilege to announce a truly fantastic milestone for the Gunslingers. As of today, March 30, 2011, we have over 2,011 members!

It feels like only yesterday when we were jokingly giving our friend, KaminoChiizu, some grief in the GS Chat for always stopping by but not "officially" being a member because he hadn't got around to registering an account in the GS Forums. In fact, that was on October 5th, 2009. He became our 200th member. In a little less than a year and a half later, we can celebrate a milestone entirely unpredictable. I ask all of you to give toast to all the great new members we have gotten in the last seven days that propelled us past the 2,000 member mark:

I am humbled by not just these 56 greenhorn Gunslingers for choosing to join our ranks in just the last seven days, but I am deeply thankful for all of you believing in our group enough to continue coming back, keep adding to the backbone of a goal to provide a home for all of us older gamers, and, most importantly, for appreciating the friendly welcomes enough to keep paying it forward to new members.

Thank you all for making the Gunslingers what I continue to recruit us as. Sure, I can say all the nice things in the world in various recruiting threads across a pantheon of game developer forums, but if it wasn't for all your cognitive discussion to keep putting meaning in my words, they would be just words.

Thank you to the Gunslingers staff. They have volunteered their time to help keep our community on track, leading by example, make our home look and function better, and for fielding the questions, ideas, and concerns of all of us. We would not be here without them.

We should be proud of having over 2,011 members at the beginning of 2011. We should be ecstatic, and I encourage all of you get in the spirit of Frosty Pints this weekend, adding, gaming, and having good times with as many of your fellow GSers as humanly possible. That said, we are not celebrating our numbers in on itself. To steal a line from our webmaster, Toezer, we are not successful because we have a lot of members. We have a lot of members because we are successful.

I sit and type this message enjoying a cold one after work.
This frosty pint is for all of you.

Your fellow Gunslinger,
McMurphy

As of June, 2011, the Gunslingers clan has officially been around for four years! As the old saying goes, time sure flies when you are having fun. ;)

It is a bit amazing to think that we have grown so much in the last few years. We started out as a small combat racing unit for a Playstation 2 game entitled Jak X to a juggernaut of over 2,200 game loving adults! As a celebration, we have a lot of plans for June. Some of which I will outline below and others yet to be announced. Before we get into the festivities, I just wanted to thank you all for all the support and faith you have had in the Gunslingers project. The notion that a group of part-time gaming adults can come together and treat each other with good will, remain uncomplicated by clan wars and kill/death ratio obsessions, and keep the experience fulfilling is a notion often deemed impossible or not worth pursuing by the majority of the clan venue. The success--the resounding defiance---is clearly up to all of you more than anyone else. And I thank you for that. It could not be possible without all of you also believing in the same principles.

As a said above, we have a lot planned. Tournaments. Contests. Prizes. News. You will be able to find direct information about all of our Anniversary celebration in the GUNSLINGER ANNIVERSARY section of the forums. Please explore and recheck this section to learn updates on the first ever Gunslinger Olympics, the Anniversary Give-Away, and the Banner making contest. More is most certainly to come during these next thirty days.

And, I dare say, more Gunslinger memories are to come these coming years.

Cheers, my 'slingers!

The Gunslinger Anniversary Celebrations were crazy!

There was so much activity that this little ol' recruiter didn't have time to take a breath and share all the good news here. There are many new additions to the Gunslingers that I am eager to relate to the rest of you, but, before we go any further, we are long overdue in giving a very public shout out to all the fantastic new folks sporting the GS clan tag. Gunslingers, tip your hats to the all the new members who helped make the anniversary of GS even more special in the last eighteen days:

THAT IS 52 NEW GUNSLINGERS IN JUST 18 DAYS!!! Thank you, all, for joining and welcome aboard!

The good news doesn't stop there. Here are some things that have been going on:

Prize Winners! - In June, Gunslingers had a chance to toss their name in a hat for some prizes! The winners are in, so let's give congratulations to bigbomber1, Hammer, MEAN*DAD, and Slammer for winning! These members got to choose from official Gunslinger Gaming frosty pint mugs, retro game packages, and even strategy guide bundles!

GS Olympics Winners! - As a new annual tradition to celebrate the GS Anniversary, we hosted multiple tournaments, each showcasing a different game on either the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, or Xbox360. The winners of each tournament got a permanent, special forum rank attached to their Gunslinger Gaming forum account. These people are the following:
Dria - 2011 GS Arcade Champion
DryBoned - 2011 Mario Kart Wii Champion
McQueen - 2011 Texas Hold 'Em Champion
McMurphy - 2011 ModNation Racers Champion
StubbornPuppet - 2011 WipeOut HD Champion
MikDre - 2011 Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3) Champion
Midnight Ronin - 2011 Call of Duty: Black Ops (Xbox360) Champion
Ichabod - 2011 Call of Duty: Black Ops (Wii) Champion
Sih - 2011 GoldenEye 007 Champion
LnWolf - 2011 Red Dead Redemption Champion

GoldenEye 007 Banner Contest - It came to my attention that, even though GoldenEye 007 is such a popular game with our Nintendo Wii faction, the Gunslingers don't have an official recruiting banner for it. That had to change! So, to harness all the creativity of several of our members, a contest was set up so members could vote on the favorite member-made Gunslinger recruiting banner. It just ended...in a three-way tie! This development has demanded a run-off vote, so members are re-casting their votes as I type this! Good luck to all the finalists!

New Music in the Gunslinger Arcade - Speaking of GS creativity, new songs have been added to the GS Arcade, a feature found on all of our chat pages complying all the songs written and performed by Gunslinger members. Here is the breakdown:
"Gunslingers vs Zombies" - written and performed by GS*Mxyzptlk. The song is about the Frosty Pint tradition of Gunslingers getting together for some zombie mode mayhem! He may have quite possibly wrote the best chorus about us: Gunslingers / Heat Bringers....

"The Word Never Has a New Best Friend" - written and performed by GS*Angels13Wings's band, Fall in February. His band is back on tour, and this (and the next song) has been added out of support for his work!

"Before or After the Drugs" - written and performed by GS*Angels13Wings's band, Fall in February. With this addition Fall in February's entire EP album is in the GS Jukebox. Take a listen, and it will become evident how this band has earned a large enough fanbase to warrant a tour!

Gunslinger Themed Games Added to GS Arcade - As a nod to, well, ourselves, strictly cowboy themed games have been added to the Gunslinger Gaming.com arcade for the past month! The Old West games Bartender, Wild Pixel West, Armadillo Cowboy Club, Gun Slinger, Dodge City Darts, GunBlood, and Bandit Gunslingers have been added!

All the above developments don't even take in account all of our NORMAL activity. Each day, countless forum posts, chat discussions, and, above all, in-game parties are taking place at the Gunslingers. We invite all casual, mature gaming adults looking for a group who treats their gaming experience like hanging out with a group of drinking buddies to come check us out at www.gunslingergaming.com ! If you like what you see, please feel free to become a member by registering in our forum. We would love to have you!

The second night of our (in)famous Frosty Pints---the weekend event when the Gunslingers grab some brews, our headsets, and get into some games---is still raging on! And why shouldn't it? As of this week, The Gunslingers clan is officially over 2,400 members strong!!! Frosty Pints is the only "sane" way to celebrate such a milestone!

We have gotten some amazing new folks this last few weeks, who will we showcase in our Wednesday update, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for more fellow parents and hard working adults looking for a group that treats the gaming experience like hanging out with a group of drinking buddies. Forget the headaches of kill/death ratio requirements, membership probation periods, and clan warring against groups of kids. Join us instead and have some fun!

THAT IS 34 NEW MEMBERS IN JUST TWO WEEKS! Welcome to Gunslingers, and thank you for joining! :)

We ascribe to "more the merrier" when it comes to our membership. You will find no other clan/group specifically for casual, mature gamers that can offer you as many choices in game contacts than the Gunslingers. As fast as we keep growing, you will be surprised at just how tight-knit and friendly our group continues to be. We know, as a group exclusively for adults, we attract gamers with limited schedules and with varying times they can rest and play some games. That is why we are committed to builiding a group that, regardless of your schedule, you can still find a team of Gunslingers with whom to have a good time.

But don't take my word for it. Come check us out. Nearly all of our forum, chat, arcade, blog, and other feature content is viewable as a guest (we have nothing to hide) so feel free to browse first. If you like what you see, sign up in our GS Forums to become a Gunslinger!

Gunslinger Newsletter for Week of 8/02/2011:

Maybe because summer, despite all its best efforts of making it an insufferable experience via heat waves, is passing by all to quickly that it seems like Fall is right around the corner. Or, just maybe, it is because GS is excited for all the new games being released. Either the case, the Gunslingers clan is looking for all those fellow parent and hard working adult gamers out there pining for a place that treats gaming as an experience to enjoy during "down times" and among casual, mature friends. Here are some fantastic developments happening at the Gunslingers that I hope demonstrates our mutual gaming wishes!

Real Life Gunslinger Meet-Ups: In just the last few weeks, there has been three get-togethers by Gunslinger members! One took place in the shape of a hiking trip in the beautiful forests of Idaho, United States. The other was an amusement park trip (they all have rugrats to keep busy, after all) in England. Yet another was a trip by a Danish member to North Carolina, United States to be shown around the Appalachian Mountain trails by a home-grown Gunslinger. Personally, it is exhilarating to see such true friendships being made by people who had never crossed paths before outside of the Gunslingers. It shows that if a group focuses on the sociability of gaming rather than the kill/death ratios something worthwhile is in store.

Mario Kart 3DS Footage: Long time member, MikeyFromSantee, traveled to Comic Con and not only got to play Mario Kart 3DS, but he took footage of himself doing so! Check out his thread in the GS Forums! He also took footage of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and other upcoming Nintendo Wii titles!

New Games Showcased: It may not be September, but the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, and Battlefield 3 bug has already caught hold of the Gunslingers! In fact, we started off August on the right foot by setting up our GS Forum board exclusively for those games! There, you will find pre-release discussions and other game information. Take part and shape our MW3, BF3, and Gears of War 3 front!

New Arcade Game Added: Every Monday, we install a new game into our custom GS Arcade! We know that we feature homes for a lot of GoldenEye 007 fans, so we thought we would have a little fun with ourselves (why so serious?) and give note to the surreal box office results from last weekend by adding SMURFS: Greedy's Bakery to the arcade. Yes, I do believe that is the first time SMURFS and GoldenEye have been uttered in the same sentence. The game is a bit of a lost artifact from the 80s. It is a replica of a handheld game that only had a limited release in the UK. Try it out and relive your childhood! Jeez, to think they even had a cereal...

Thank you for taking the time to read this week's Gunslinger Newsletter. If you aren't a GSer yet, come check us out at http://www.gunslingergaming.com . If you like what you see, sign up in our forums to become a member. It is all about having a good time and playing games at your convenience at the Gunslingers. A group full of adults could have it no other way!

Adults and "Immaturity"

I don't mean to be at all offensive but if this clan is for adults then why is their so many members? Me meaning due to the fact that adults are suppose to be "Working" or "Babysitting" and college kids are suppose to be "Studying". The fact that adults have so many responsibilities and are capable of playing a game in their "free time". It just doesn't make since to me how adults/college students could so much responsibility and on top of it, have time to put time and dedication to a gaming clan. As an adult, adults should be doing what they tell us kids to do, focus on responsibilities and work. Especially due to the economy in the United States (not sure if there is in other countries) , why are adults and college students so focused on a gaming clan if they say they are "Mature" as they are because they are adults?

Gunslingers

All of this is really being referred to the gunslingers clan specially made for "Adults". I hate the fact that so many adults assume that kids can't be mature enough to join an 18+ year old website. I feel as if they are trying to make us feel as if we are not welcome to a website to associate with adults. Now don't get me wrong, every adult has their limits to what kids can do now a days, especially parents and their children; but if this site has rules that every other gaming website has, (pornography, Gore and language [not necessarily a big deal now a days], which may I add are what adults don't like us looking at now a days.) then why can't a mature 15 year old like myself join your "Adults only" website? Not saying I want to join, but not saying I'm not incapable of joining either.

Fun'n Games

I Agree that adults as well as any other age group deserves to have some fun especially after a hard days work. Having fun in a video game is a way many people can express themselves; but when somebody is immediately thinking of getting straight to a computer, wii, xbox, ps3, etc. just to play a game, then you are just as immature as we "Kids" are. My mother prefers to come home and relax as she watches her soaps instead of immediately jump in on a game system and everytime you die or lose, you yell and scream and holler. Most adults I am not saying do this and are actually mature about this subject, but you would be surprising how many would throw fits after an incident.

My maturity

I for one am refereed to my parents as "Mature" even though I am 15 (going on 16). I do well in school, speak to my parents maturely, and I don't swear every sentence like an immature average teenager does. As far as rated M games go, my parents let me play these because they think I have matured at a younger age then most of my friends. As for adults that are always saying, "Kids are not old enough to be playing games like this and their parents need to do their job." you are not ones to say how mature us "kids" are. In fact, I am more mature then most adults out there my parents mention to me quite often. My parents are both hard workers and are always going out of their way to take care of me and my little brother which I respect them and thank them for everyday. I hope that one day I will be able to return the favor.

It happened to all of us

I'm sure that many teenagers and children have walked into wal-mart or fry's (an adult as a young child or a child of this day) and they are suddenly brought to 5-6 adult's attention at once. Adults are always thinking, "Oh, a child with no adults around, they must be looking for trouble." Well How would you be one to confirm if we are going to immediately "look for trouble" when we walk into our local grocery store or not. Maybe I would just like to buy a bag of chips with the 3 bucks I just received for responsibly doing my chores the past week.

Judging others

Once again I just felt like this topic on "Adults thinking kids aren't mature enough". As of now it is just surprising to me how adults are just assuming so many things about kids, especially the fact that we aren't mature enough to handle many things. That is just like judging a guy who walks in your store with an orange prison outfit but you instantly forget it's actually Halloween. I not saying you should learn to trust every single person, but you shouldn't assume everything about everybody either.

Everyone's rights

Everyone deserves respect and some fun, kids and adults should be treated equally. This is exactly why many kids dislike adults and many adults dislike kids in the first place. It is because we don't treat each other like we really should be treating each other, respected, cared, treated fairly, etc.

Thank you for you time and I hope this is sucked in as a positive, I am pointing this towards kids as well as adults as I believe we are all victims of the common ways of everyday life. That is all.

P.S. Once again I was not trying to point out that everyone does all of the following above, but I seem these things occur many time and I ticks me off whenever I witness it especially when use "Kids" are the victims (most common) but it ticks me off just as much when an innocent adult is being handled by an immature, violent kid.

Gunslinger Newsletter for the Week of 8/10/2011:

Here is what's happening within the Gunslingers this week!

NEW MEMBERS - As we look forward to all the great games coming out in the next few months, the Gunslingers group is keeping busy by welcoming all the fantastic folks walking through our virtual saloon doors. Let's give said welcome in a very public fashion for the "green horns" who have added the GS tag in just the last seven days:

Welcome to the Gunslingers and thank you all for joining! :)

NEW GS MADE MUSIC - Creativity is a big part of the Gunslingers. Not only do we put a lot of work into the group to keep the experience like no other clan out there, but we showcase--heck, promote--the creative efforts of our members as well. Case in point, GS*Cope. He has two new songs he wrote and composed entitled "Enemies" and "Rain In You," and he has been kind enough to share it with the rest of us by adding it to the GS Jukebox! The Jukebox is the dynamic playlist featured in the forum and on every chat page at GunslingerGaming.com that is comprised entirely of music performed by Gunslinger members. Gamers can rock n' roll, too! Come check out Cope's and other GSer music!

GS CREATIVE WRITING - As I stated above, we love to showcase the creativity of Gunslinger members. Another way we do that is by providing a GS Forum section specifically for any literature authored by members. For example, check out Slammer's and Geo's writing that has been recently posted!

GS 4 LIFE! - A great tattoo, right? Seriously though, we often speak of how the Gunslingers clan is the ideal place for all you parent and hard working adult gamers out there who seek a casual, mature gaming experience because, well, life can be demanding, right?! You tire of seeing so many groups out there that want to demand that you meet for "x" number of practices or appear online "x" number of times a month to keep your membership. That doesn't sound fun. That sounds like yet another obligation. We completely understand that feeling. That is why, at the Gunslingers, you retain your full fledged membership regardless of the amount of time you can dedicate to gaming. We are happy to game with you when you can, and we look forward to times life permits down the road, as well! Can anything be more fair?

Thank you for taking the time to read this week's (so far) updates of the Gunslingers. If any of the above information or sentiments appeal to you, we humbly invite you to come check us out. If you like what you see, sign up in the GS Forums to join in on the fun.

Isnt GS* dead in goldeneye.

Far from it! We have a GoldenEye Gunslingers group that hits the public matches on a daily basis. :D

------------------------------------------------

THE SUNDAY NEWSPAPER

If you haven't already noticed, GS tends to treat our recruiting thread as a news feed. We are always excited to share our updates and expansions in the GS community with whomever interested to click onto our topic. Thank you for doing so, by the way, even though you may very well be still recovering from this weekend's Frosty Pints celebration. So, with that in mind, pour yourself a lazy Sunday mug of joe and read a few Gunslinger Gaming updates:

Happy Birthday, Korchie! - Long time member and GS forum administrator, Korchie, is celebrating a birthday today. Thank you for everything you have done for GS. We wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for you. We wish you much celebration and happiness on your special day. :)

New F.A.Q. Section - We have added a new Frequently Asked Questions section to the Gunslinger Gaming Site. You can access it from absolutely every page on the site, including the GS Forums. The F.A.Q. should be regarded as a community think tank, so, if you see any questions reoccurring by members (new and old alike), let us know. We can add it to the page to help others who may be wondering the same thing.

GS History Page Update - If you have never viewed it before, it is located in the drop-down menu under the "Membership" tab. Up to this point, the page was a mere paragraph long and was always meant as a place holder. You can now view the progression of the Gunslingers from its conception to, well, an addition that is about to happen later this month! Although I tried to be thorough, GS is chalk full of milestones, so expect to see the page fleshed out even more as time goes on. Here is the introduction part of the History Page:

The Gunslingers is an oasis for parent and hard working adult gamers from around the world that was formed back in June, 2007. The underlining goal of our group is to create a gaming environment that is fun yet civil and friendly for mature, casual gamers. It is a goal far too uncommon in the gaming community, and is not often honestly sought. For anyone wishing to escape the lulls of silly clan probation periods, distinct divides in community ranks, unrealistic demands of attendance, and continual ugliness of clan wars, the Gunslingers is your haven. We have attracted thousands of like-minded adults, so you are not alone in your wants.

The fruit of the Gunslingers is being continuously surrounded by folks sharing your general gaming wants and perspectives. There is plenty of obligations and negativity wishing to take up your time in your career, in your personal life, and certainly during your online travels. It doesn’t need to be that way. The Gunslingers clan, however existential as it may seem, seek to inject some positivity and even escapism in your daily obligations. Come. Kick your feet up. Decompress. Be merry! Everyone deserves that, and, regardless if you are new to online gaming or a veteran, you will be welcomed by the rest of us. Share in our cheer!

You may now flip to the Sunday Funnies.

I realize in the last span of seven days we have had two newsletters, but a third one is warranted! Here are the GS updates for the beginning of this work week:

AmazingPerkans Shares His Music! - AmazingPerkan and his band, Republic Simone, have been kind enough to share their music with the rest of us by adding "King of Kings" and "Republic of Pete" to the GS*Jukebox! Visit any of the GS Chat pages to view the playlist and take a listen! n case the GS*Jukebox is new to you, it is the dynamic playlist comprised entirely of music created and composed by your fellow Gunslinger members. You will find it in the Music section of the forums and on every Chat page. We thank all of them for sharing their music with the rest of us!

New Game Added to Arcade! - We all know the classic Pac-Man. Heck, we even have a version of it in the GunslingerGaming.com Arcade already. It is time to see the game from the viewpoint of the ghosts in the newest addition to the GS*Arcade: Anti Pacman! You will have to be tricky to get that ever allusive icon of the '80s!

The Gunslingers is the ideal home for all of you mature, casual gamers looking for fellow adults who game on their spare time, hassle free.
