I'm at the entrence to the first dungeon but can't figure out what you press to light the damn thing...

I think he didn't answer cause you just had to follow the directions <lol> By that time you equipped the fishing rod and used it (with B) so for the lantern you equip it, stand next to the post, and use it (with B)
