Help on changing channels on my router

I know this is stupid to ask but...how do you change channels? and will it mess up your laptop connection if you change to another channel?

go into your router settings
find setup or wireless or both (depending on your router)
there should be a wireless channel pulldown tab with the various channels

the channel should not affect your laptop
if it does, just change it back to the way it was.

put it on 1 or 11 those are the recommended ones to go with
