Im a huge fan of the horror genre, be it books games films programmes, and about 2 hours ago i went to see a film 1408 and i found it scary and i mean that iv not jumped, like that, or been scared like that in a long time, and dont call me a wimp iv seen my fair share of horrors, (listed below are some of them)

silence of the lambs, hanibal lecter, red dragon, scream 1,2 and 3, no vacancy, broken, halloween, halloween H20, Halloween resurection, when a stranger calls, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, final destination 1,2 n 3, hostel part 1, land of the dead, dawn of the dead, saw 1,2 n 3, the decent, alien, aliens, alien 3, alien resurection, texas chainsaw masacre (new and old), Excorcist 1 n 2, valentine, house on haunted hill, thirteen ghosts, the haunting, Friday the thirteenth (no idea which ones there is like a million lol), ghost tunnel, shallow ground, blair witch project, amityville horror, an american haunting, the omen 666, the hollow man, aracnaphobia, house of wax, cry wolf, Dead End, Dog soldiers, the covenant, i know what you did last summer, i still know what you did last summer, the grudge, the grudge 2, hide and seek, childs play 1,2,3, bride of chucky, dark water, slither, silent hill, resident evil 1 n 2, snakes on a plane, ghost ship, alien vs predator, predator, boogey man, the ring 1 n 2, the fog, the skeleton key, the devils rejects, wolf creek, Jeepers creepers 1 n 2, Creep, candy man 1 n 2, Long time dead, what lies beneath, Reeker, And most likely some more

so as you can see iv seen more than my fair share of horrors and i have been watching horrors since i was 8 when i first watched Scream, i never watched a horror for nearly 4 years because of that but now im like the horrors biggest fan as you can tell from all the films above (if you bothered to read them all) and well i would like to know people opinions on two things,

    horror genre in general
    and
    the film 1408

well here is the problem with horror movie today, they film makers are the one detroying the film industry buy trying to take out the good stuff to try and make it pg 13 so that more people will be able to see it, so now they arent even scary because of that

to me , the only really horror movie saga out right now is the saw films from lionsgate, because the producers dont care about making it pg 13, thats what make them good film makers, and also saw movies have really good storylines and good drama and suspension and great cliffhangers, so because of that the saw industry cant be classified as "gore porn" like movie like "the hills have eyes, 1,2"

    go lionsgates!!!

ps: i rathered enjoyed the hills have eyes movies , so i felt bad calling them that

lolzo, well i got into 28 weeks later and that was an 18 (first and only 18 iv seen in cinema/theatre)

so i might just be able to get in.

p.s i dont go to the cinema just for the film, its just better to watch it on huge screen with very good sound and quality, its much better than online, and even dvd's

yes, i agree, its just not the same to watch a movie, especially horor movies, in your home tv or computer , then to see its in a theater, it just cant be compared, go theater! :)

I like Horror a lot to. To bad nothing scares me :scared: The thing I hate about todays horror is that its just blood and gore like saw, halloween remake, OR it's remakes. I like Movies like the original Halloween which focus on character development and suspense rather than cheap scares.

The main issue with horror films I find today is whether remakes are any good. There's the original films by studios like Universal from the '20s to the '60s, then you get the remakes by the likes of Hammer and some of Carpenter's stuff in the '70s and '80s. Then there's horror films made in the '70s and '80s that are being remade now.

I've stayed away from remakes of horror films from the '70s and '80s thus far because I don't want to be disappointed, like I have been with American remakes of Asian horror films. Should I take the plunge?

I always prefered psychological horrors to anything else. Although classic style can also be quite fun.

One sub-genre I'm not into is Slashers. They all seem very samey.
