How far away can the wii be from the router to still get a good connection

Our router will be about 40 ft from the wii but the catch is that the router will be up stairs and the will will be in a basement. Will this work or what will i need to do to make it work. I want a good enough connection to play cod 007 and watch netflix?

You likely won't get a very optimal connection when going through walls and floors. If you're determined to eliminate as much lag as possible, I'd highly recommend simply going with a wired connection if at all possible. I don't believe you'd be able to have a very good connection otherwise.
