ok i'm annoyed now!

I have connected to xbox Live before but now I can't get it up and running.

I am connecting from my 360 to a PC via an ethernet connection cable to my broadband. I have set my broadband settings to allow internet connection sharing (ICS). I have checked my PC's IP address, subnet mask and gateway and manually installed this information on the network settings dashboard.

For some reason the 360 recognises the cable link but the IP address comes up as 'failed'.

your help would be much obliged....

thanks

Hi

you haven't changed the ethernet cable have you?
ICS requires a "crossover" cable not the straight thru' one
which came with the 360.

---

you could give the xbox a "manually assigned" IP address.

the IP of your PC LAN connection will more than likely be
192.168.0.1, set the IP on the 360 to 192.168.0.2
subnet will be 255.255.255.0, default gateway will be
the IP of the adaptor connecting to the internet.

are you using any third party firewall software? if you are, you'll
probably have to reduce the LAN side protection to minimum or
medium level.

i use zone alarm and to get ICS working, that section of the firewall
had to be changed.
