Iron Shoes

I recently went to visit the Mayor who taught me how to beat the monsters by wearing the iron boots. i then went on and beat the creature on the hog (the duel on the bridge) after this i went to beat goron but i dont seem to have the iron boots in my inventory? ive gone back to the mayors house and he isnt there. where are my boots?

Ive tried pressing + and there not in my inventory, i went back to see the mayor and he just tells me to get back to the mountain and dont tell anyone about the boots?

Actually, I'm being stupid here. They won't be on the "+" page, they'll be on the "-" page!
Did you grab them out of the chest in the mayor's house?
