Is Mario Galaxy like Mario Sunshine?

I have had all the Nintendo Game systems except for Gamecube....
I am loving Zelda... not quite finished it yet, but am looking forward to the next longer type solo playing game. I was looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy. However last week I borrowed Super Mario Sunshine to play on my Wii...
I loved Mario 64, and was expecting just a newer version of that basically. After a couple hours of Sunshine.. I really don`t like it. The silly spray hose thing just seems kind of dumb, and I am not enjoying this game... It has definately curbed my enthusiasm for Galaxy. I know its a long way off, but you think this game will rekindle my love for Mario, or should I find something else.

No, it's like Mario 64. Yes, SMG is a newer version, better everything. Search YouTube for videos of people playing Super Mario Galaxy, it'll make you wanna just grab your Wiimote and pretend you're playing the video.

possible same movment, jumping etc with a couple of new movment features but different enviroment, storyline etc
