Mario Bros. not working?

I just downloaded Mario Bros. from NES. When I start up the game and it asks if I want to play a 1 or 2 player game it won't let me choose. It's like the controller isn't working but it is because I can still reset the game and go back to the Wii menu. It's just not letting me select an option and start the game. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I tried using the Wii remote and the Wii classic controller and it's not working with either.

im also having a problem, no matter how many times i dl the game, the buttons work and all, i can play the game, but the screen stays black the whole time. i can onlysee whats happeneing when i push the home button, can anyone help me out?

Did you figure out what's happeneing. I downloaded the game and I am getting the same thing. After I start the game, I feel like the game is ON (there is sounds in response to button press) but the screen remains off.
