Metal Slug--control?

Metal Slug was one of the 1st games I bought for my Wii. I did not do much with it in frustration with the controls, so I just played some other stuff. I would like to get on with this game. What do you guys feel is the best way to control the game? I tried it with the nunchuck and the Wiimote and found it almost impossible to play. Looking forward to your help. Thanks

For Metal Slugs Anthology for the Wii, I think the easiest way to play is to use the Gamecube controller. It fits the game and id more fundamental to it. Hope you enjoy the game again.
