I love the sigs man, that is the style I have been seeing but have not been sure exactly people are getting those effects. Smudge Brushes, C4D (And of course a lot more)...

I put the text as a seperate layer, then I highlighted it and made a new layer underneath it. Then select the pattern that looks like horizontal lines.

Go to edit>>"Fill with pattern"

Then set the layer mode of the text to "Value" and set the transparency to 85%
