Need help with Controllers

I have a Wii that I got as a gift from my employer. I don't really want to play actual Wii games with it. I want to play Skies of Arcadia: Legends (GameCube), for which I have the actual CD, and Super Metroid (Super Nintendo) via Virtual Console.

My question is, which controller would be able to play both? If no one can play both, which ones should I get?

My theory is that I need a GameCube Memory card, GameCube Controller and a Wii Classic controller. But I was hoping there would be one that can play both, GC and Virtual Console games.

You should be able to get away with just a wii classic controller and the gc memory card (for saving) as it should be backward compatible......
I'm not 100% but pretty certain....you can buy the controller from ebay for like a fiver.

The manual covers this. For GamceCube games, you must use a GameCube controller.

For Virtual Console most game support more than one control scheme.
