Need help with Need for Speed

I have been playing Need for Speed Carbon and am really enjoying it. However, I do have a question. I was recently able to buy a new car (which takes my fleet to a total # of two). I got in this new car and have been winning races, unlocking car upgrades. For some reason the upgrades only seem to be available for my original car, not my new car. Why? Why can't I upgrade my new car?

when u go into a new territory, u'll be able to buy those parts for ur new car.....

Alright, thanks. How do you know which territory equals upgrades to which car?

each territory has its own level try going on the easiest one
