need some help.....

well i just made a new pic on gimp 2 and i want to upload it but when i go to image shack or photo bucked and try to upload it it says "unknow file type"
i title the pic "my sig"and when i look in my pic folder it says MY SIG.xcf is there a way to change this to .jpg or .gif or something like that so i can up load it?:scared:

 

[Syntax]

You have to open up gimp and load your signature that you've made. Once you do that, go to file > save as and choose either gif.,png. or jpeg.

I did the same thing the first time I tried to save one.

Gimp is a nice little program.
