Activision has unveiled some simply stunning new screenshots at Comic-Con today from Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions, due out on the Wii in September 2010 (SRP $49.99). I doubt that all of these are from the Wii version, but they look pretty spectacular even so, and it’s certainly shaping up to be an incredible game by the looks of it. The game is set in four dramatically different worlds from Spider-Man lore, each with their own distinct Spider-Man. The art-style of each universe is dramatically different too, ranging from classic pen-and-ink-styled Amazing Spider-Man, to the moody, 1930’s film-Noir version.

Each new incarnation of Spider-Man enables the player to harness new gameplay mechanics, with the web-slinging, acrobatic Amazing Spider-Man delivering sweeping blows and powerful kicks, in a world that pays tribute to the classic era of the legendary super hero, whereas Spider-Man Noir, is a bit moody and prefers lurking in the shadows prior to pouncing.

For the first time in a Spider-Man game, he can deal damage up-close-and personal via the new first-person perspective, which kicks in at key points during battles. And make no mistake, there will be plenty of battles, with players taking on the likes of the world’s greatest hunter, Kraven, in the Amazing universe, and Hammerhead and his henchmen in the Noir universe. It’s also just been announced at Comic-Con that Neil Patrick Harris will be voicing Peter Parker in the game, marking the second time the actor has played the super hero, having provided the voice for the web-slinger supreme in Spider-Man: The New Animated series back in 2003.
