newbi with a problem

good morning im new to this chat forum

my wii problem is
yesterday my boys took it to grandads and when he connected it to the telly the wii home page wouldnt appear just a black screen

then this morning when i got home to check it i pluged it in and to turn it on i had to hold the power button for about a min and all it would do was make a clicking noise

anyone have any idea what is wrong with my console

did you check all the cords were hooked up right?
