Nintendo has announced today that the Wii has surpassed a major sales milestone in the US in 2010. According to Nintendo’s internal sales figures, the Wii marked its third consecutive calendar year with US sales of more than 7 million, which Nintendo says is a feat never before achieved in the history of video games by a home console. These most recent figures bring the Wii’s total sales figures in the United States alone to more than 34 million. Here’s what Nintendo*of America President Reggie Fils-Aime had to say about the fantastic news:

“When we look back at 2010, we see consumers time and again turning to the value and enjoyment of our products. When we look ahead to 2011, we see new portable technology and more great Wii games that need to be seen to be believed.”

And with figures like those, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing a new Wii console anytime soon in 2011, especially with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on its way this year too.
