playing gc games

the game will start up and everything
but when i plug in the controller the wii just shuts off
theres no light and i have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in

how can i get it to work?

thats odd never heard about this before. i wouldnt have a clue. if i were u i would contact nintendo to fix the prob

Sounds like your controller is shorting out your Wii somehow.

Try using someone elses GC controller to check if it is a problem with the controller or the Wii.
