Problem with playing Virtual Console games with the Wiimote

I have purchased both Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros through Virtual Console. When I want to play it with my Wiimote the controllers are really weird. When I press up both Mario and Sonic go forward. When I press down they'll go backwards. When I press right they'll jump and when I press left they'll duck. I don't think this is normal and it's not easy to play it like this. Does anyone know what the problem is or how I can solve this problem?

turn your controller on it's side so that the d-pad is on the left and 1 and 2 buttons are on the right!

LOL! happens to us all sometimes.

At first I thought you were gonna say how its hard to push the buttons with a skin on. When I tried playing the games with the wiimote sideways and a skin on the controller, the buttons are too shallow to be pushed accurately. Doesnt register everytime because you are pushing the rubber glove around the button.

I haven't used a skin on the controller yet so haven't had to deal with that problem....yet :-D
