Proper batteries for Wiimotes

Hi all;
I just opened my shipped box with my new/used Wii and I have a question about the Wii-mote.
It looks like you can simply use any "AA" battery in these but I thought I saw somewhere a
charger base accessory you can buy for the Wii-motes. if this is true, then wouldn't I need to
insert some sort of re-chargeable type battery instead of the plain 'ole Duracell AA's?

Most tend to replace the battery compartment with a rechargeable battery

Which capacity is safe for these remotes? I guess i am asking, what would Nintendo recommend? (WWNR)
