RCA Y Splitter cables don't work for Audio?

I bought some Y splitter cables for the inputs of audio for my TV so I could have the DVD player and the Wii plugged in at the same time. For some reason the DVD player works fine but when both are plugged in and even when the DVD is off, there is no sound for the Wii. It only works if I unplug the DVD player from the splitter. Any ideas?

PS My new LCD TV only has Audio inputs of RCA cables and a 3.5 mini jack inputs.

You shouldn't/can't do that. Get one of those AV selector things and you will be good to go.

Funny, I just came back from the store buying just that.

My TV's fine, i have AV inputs and such at the back of the tv (Two sets) and another set at the front.... Only me?
