Resolution for Wii Games

So I understand WiiU is backward compatible with Wii games. What resolution do backward compatible Wii games play at? If I buy WiiU, will my Wii games look better on my big screen? (such a mario kart wii)?

wii games play at 1080P on wiiU...

they look slightly better than using your actual wii....but wont be much difference if you already use component cables on your wii.
