Screen Resolution issues.

I need some input. I got component cables for my Wii because I wanted Skyward Sword to look good. I went to settings and the only options available where 480i standard and 480p HDTV. I also switched it to wide screen. When I booted up the game it looked SUPER bad. I had previously tested it out on the standard AV cables and I am seeing no difference at all. Am I doing something wrong or is it supposed to look this crappy? Maybe my component cables suck? I bought generic ones. I saw videos of gameplay for this game and they looked way better than what I am seeing on my tv screen.

Could be the tv. Try hooking up a regular dvd player to the tv with a component cable and see if colors look washed. If not then it must be the wii. Or goto amazon.com and type in "wii to hdmi". Some revies say those little dongles give slightly better picture. Never tried one but worth a shot.
