sd card

No, you don't get one. You have to buy one. Whats so amazing about it is that you aren't forced to buy official nintendo ones (like current gen consoles where you have to pay for console specific save cards).

I have a few 1gb sd cards. They were on sale for $20usd. really cheap for so much space

oh yeah, there are rumors that you might be able to use an external hard drive.

And for SD cards, small sizes like 512mb or 256mb are really really cheap

Even if hard drives aren't supported initially, you can always buy a small (16MB or 32MB cards cost around $5 now) and copy the contents to a folder on your computer.

When it fills up, you don't have to worry about deleting; just archive it and it'll sit there waiting for you when you need it.

Is there an sd card reader, or slot device that you can get for your computer so you can save stuff directly from there or does the sd card have to be in a digital camera, videocamera, or watever electronic device to be able to save things on an sd card?

Readers can be found on Newegg for under $5:

Or you can buy an SD card with a built in USB connector, such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227162
