Hi, what is the SD card used for in the Wii? Does the Wii have any internal flash memory for storing downloads? Thanks.

The Wii has 512 Mb of internal flash memory. Most will say the SD cards are of no use because you can't play Virtual Console games directly from the cards.

If you haven't downloaded 512 MB worth of VC games, then no. It's not worth it.

I mainly use it to view my pictures or to listen to my music. I really don't think that I will be filling my internal memory with just VC downloads.

The SD card is used to store extra data. if you fill your internal flash memory with data, then you can keep storing things on the Wii. Also, if your Wii crashes and you losse all your game data, if you have it backed up on an SD card, it's rep[placeable, yes it's worth it(although I haven't bought one yet)
