SEGA Announces Tournament of Legends 3D Fighting Game-1.052010-02-03 17:13:00Maura SSEGA Europe has today announced a new 3D fighting game exclusively for the Wii, which is being developed in partnership with High Voltage Software. The game is for 1-2 players, and features fighters based on legends from the world of mythology, including Bravehoof the Minataur, a Gladiator called Marcus, and a Valkyrie (no name yet, although it would be cool if she was called Valerie the Valkyrie), as well as many others. These legendary fighters will all do battle with each other in massive arenas, wielding special weapons, launching magical attacks, and dodging giant fellow mythological creatures. Combat moves at players’ disposal include unleashing a man-eating lion, summoning a rain of arrows, and throwing a nest of venomous vipers.

Players will be able to switch weapons and enchantments with other characters, or compete in various Wii Remote/Nunchuk controller challenges, including dodging giant mythological creatures (them again!), or restoring health and armour during fights. The game also features an Interactive Training mode and supports the Classic Controller.

The cinematic effects and graphics in the game are powered by the High Voltage Software Quantum 3 engine, specifically designed and optimised for the Wii. This is what Eric Nofsinger, COO of High Voltage Software had to say about the game:

“With Tournament of Legends, we want to take Wii weapon-based fighting to a bigger place. Along with a wide selection of blade weapons and animated magic attacks we’ve achieved rich graphical effects and detailed, epic characters with the Quantum 3 engine. The mythological characters are some of the biggest 3D playable characters on Wii.”

Tournament of Legends will be released exclusively for the Wii in May 2010.
