    yes, thats the rule. nintendo said in a press release one reason for the name was that it could be easily pronounced in every language.

    in french the word "yes" which u are refering to as wii, is actewaly spelled oui not wii, so im sure there is no confusion :)

    I have pondered a very similar question myself. I do believe in France it is infact called the Oui.
