Since the 60s actually. But I'm not sure Latvia is a big Trek nation either way.

Here's a PS2 gameplay video. Not a very well made video, but it's something. Remember, this is a $30 (Wii) game that's already selling for $21 on ebay.

If anyone rents / buys this then please post a review. I might grab a copy if it is decent.

BTW

This was the best Star Trek Game ever:

Hard for me to disagree since I never played that one before, but for me it was http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_-_A_Final_Unity

...granted it's an ancient game now, and I was still never successful at getting it to run in xp :shifty:

I'll need to try this since the trailer makes it seem so friggin' cool and the best thing about star trek is usually the battles (dominion war was awesome).

My last star trek game I played was shattered universe and that game was seriously hard so I have high hopes for this game.

I got this game last night.

I give it a 85/100. The game play is simple to pick up and play. It's a very fun and addictive game. You can start as one of 5 races and 1 of 3 captians for each race. Then you start out by creating a game by selecting how many opponets you want to play against. Then you can built starbases, mining base, research base or gun turrents. You can built fleets of ships and you get exp for your battles, which allows you to raise your captians skills. Then you just try to take over the universe. You can upgrade your starbases and abilities.

Biggest grip I have about the game is the lack of Multiplayer....how could you not include it? This game would be hella fun online.

It's a must buy for any Strategy or Star Trek fans. Well worth the $30.

You have any interest in doing some video footage of the game logicbomb? There's no user video for the Wii version yet.

First review (PS2 version)

The IGN review for the PS2 version of Conquest is now live.

Star Trek: Conquest probably should have been pure crap -- it had all the ingredients: value price (it's only $15 new), no actual actors or characters from the Star Trek TV series or movies, and more than a passing resemblance to the snooze-worthy Star Trek: Encounters -- and yet, stripped of all the normal selling points, the game ends up being awesome.
Conquest does one thing, and does it well. Freed from all the TV actors and even the characters themselves, the game instead just rests comfortably in providing a tried-and-true game of strategy with enough variety and differences in play style to make every race feel like they can tackle the game differently. Granted, the limited scope means you won't be able to play the game for marathon sessions, but it's perfect in few-hour bursts.

8.0: Impressive

I think they normally have the same person review games across platforms so they can have a better basis of comparison. So you'd think the Wii review would be forthcoming.

Finally there's some video footage of the strategy mode for Wii.

It looks like all the battle in the main strategy mode is handled in traditional turn-based style. I had anticipated a turn based-RTS hybrid, where you built fleets and bases set research and chose areas in a turn-based model, and then fought the fleets you encountered using the arcade mode action mechanics. I'm pretty disappointed.

IGN has also posted a Wii review, coming in expectedly lower than the PS2 version (which is half the price) at 6.8.
