Stupid Question about Blue Light

Ok, stupid question, but everywhere i look its pics with the wii's blue light on in the disc slot...but mine just blinks when i start it up, or put a game in...i have mine laying down, i don't know if that has anything to do with it not being on while the system is on...any help? or am i just being paranoid...i just got it a couple of days ago...

you will only get the blue light glowing when you get a message from a mate or an update from nintendo. i hope that answers your question.
