Stupid question...

When the Wii is turned on with no game or anything inside of it, what is suppose to be showing up on the tv?

.........uh oh. when i turn mine on without a CD all i get is some weird stuff on the screen. If i put a CD in before i turn it on, it works fine. I just bought it two days ago =\

Doesnt sound good because the Wii channels should be on the screen.
You might want to take it back before its too late.

Perhaps i wasn't clear. I'm talking about when the system is shut off completely with nothing in it, then turned on.

Or should the Wii Channels show up then?

Yes they should always show up with or without a disc inserted in the system.

Technically the warning screen should show up, telling you to hit the A button to continue, but after that yes, the Wii channels should showing.

Good news, glad you somehow got it solved. Every electronic device can experience a glitch every now and then.
