I understand there's a cheat code in Super Mario Bros. to continue once you die. How do you do it on the Wii Virtual Console?

when the screen says "game over" hold "A" so that would be 2 on the wiimote.. then at the title select screen where it asks 1 player or 2 player press start and it should continue.
