Super Mario World 96 exits

Has anyone had this problem?
you've completed all 96 exits on the virtual consol version of SMW and you don't get the star next to the save file?

is this function not built into the Wii version?

it's in their because I did it shortly after I purchased SMW, don't know why yours doesn't work.
