I'm playing Super Metroid and I always get stuck. I just blew up a passageway tube in Maridia with a power bomb, but I found that tip-off in a walkthrough. Is Metroid Prime 3 (and the MP games in general) also like this, or do those games have more straight-forward puzzles and gameplay?

i never played either of the first 2 primes, but i have found that prime 3 is much more linear than the older ones i've played (nes, snes, gameboy).

No, linear as in you typically have a pretty good idea where you are supposed to be heading and there's not quite as much backtracking.
