Switching wiimote that is #1?

I currently have my wiimote inside the dumbell weights that came with one of the wiifit addons. But when I go to play a game, I need to take the wiimote out of the dumbell, since that wiimote is synced as #1.

Is there an easy way to take my #2 controller (sitting on my coffee table) and use it as my #1 "play Mario with me" controller?

The wiimotes are not synced as #1 or #2, there just synced to your Wii. Just take your #2 controller and press power, then you can use it is #1.
