this is not normal

Is there some other way to update my wii besides the update section in the options menu? I have only had 1 INITIALL update since i got mine on christmas...the rest of the time its ALWAYS telling "the system can not update because it has the late-est software running" or somthing like that. I know this is not normal because everyone is always saying how they update every few days for firmware or new games or anything else...and i dont have it on standby connection so i know it cant be doing it while "off" any ideas?

For the Internet channel, you must go on the Wii Shop Channel and download it. And also, if there are any updates to the Shop, Weather, News or Internet Channel, you must visit those channels to receive the update. As soon as you click on the channel, and there's an update avaliable, they'll send a notification saying so. As for new games, they periodically come out every week, with around 2-3 games.
