Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2 is flying the flag for music games in grand style, with Ubisoft announcing today that the game has sold more than five million units for the Wii, holding down a prime spot in the top ten video game sales chart in both the US and Europe since its October 2010 release. And as if that wasn’t reason enough for Ubisoft to be looking very smiley indeed, Just Dance 2 was also the top selling single-format game in the UK for 2010. To date, the Wii-exclusive Just Dance franchise, which consists of Just Dance, Just Dance 2 and Just Dance Kids has sold more than 10 million units worldwide, making it the third biggest franchise worldwide in 2010. Even Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime is pleased, saying that Just Dance 2’s amazing sales figures prove that third-party software can be successful on the Wii:

“The strong performance of Just Dance 2 is a perfect example of the potential that can be achieved by an independent publisher like Ubisoft in delivering irresistible content for the Wii system.”

Dance music games are obviously working their magic on the Wii right now, as Michael Jackson The Experience also racked up massive sales of over two million in just one month.

Interesting! The write up says that the series is the third best selling franchise in the world in 2010. I wonder what numbers 1 and 2 were? Anyone know?
