Us Version Work In Uk?

Hi I am in the US on holiday and have bought the wii for my son. The guy in the store said it should work ok in uk but I am worried about the adapter with the different voltages and also will the games we buy in UK work on a us console?
Please can anyone help me before Saturday when we come home!!

Sorry, it won't work in the UK. The games are coded for specific regions, so you won't be able to play UK games on a US console.

I have seen some freeloader disc's on some import sites
Also the mod chip will let you play imports (The staff of wiichat takes no responsibility for damage caused to your wii due to chiping)
