hello!
i think i may have trouble finding a wii in the UK as it is relieced the day before i go on holiday to the USA and i need to buy one for a UK friend as a christmas present.
does anyone know if i will be able to buy a WII consol in USA and bring it back home to the UK with me? i have heared the phrase 'PAL' being used alot but im not 100% what this means?

basicly i need the consol to work in the UK - can i buy one in USA and it still work?????

thanks

PAL is the colour system used on UK TVs.

NTSC is the colour system used on American TVs. Most up to date UK TVs will accept an NTSC signal, so you should be able to play Wii Sports. However, you will need a stepdown converter which reduces the UK voltage from 240V to 110V and allows the American plug to plug into it.

Also, bear in mind that the NTSC console won't play PAL games without some kind of converter like a Freeloader, which hasn't even been confirmed for release yet.

You're better off getting a PAL Wii to be honest.

thanks you!

dont supose u know if its possiable to buy a PAL version of the WII in USA?
i mean, do places sometimes stock PAL things in USA?

It's very unlikely to be honest. I think America tends to only import Japanese games, rather than any UK games.
