I have been using Wireless on my Wii for ages but now and then I get lag so thought I would try wired.
Bought myself a standard USB to RJ45 dongle. Whacked it in the Wii, set it up but it cant find a connection.
I have entered exactly the same settings as my wired PS3 except the IP adds which is obviously different.
The dongle lights up so it seems to be recognised by the Wii.

Will only the Wii dongle work or should mine be okay and i have just done a dodgy setting somewhere ?

Any thoughts please ?

The Wii's wireless is in built.

Theres no need for extra things for wifi play

You did say you bought a "standard USB to RJ45 dongle". Is it the Nintendo LAN connector or something else? The Nintendo one is the only one that will work. Please clarify.

You plugged the thingy into the Wii?
It wont work that way.

The Wii only has drivers for the Nintendo LAN adapter. I thought I saw a list of adapters somewhere that used the same chipset as the Nintendo adapter and did work with the Wii. Maybe a Google search will find what you want.
