Virtual Console games Question?

Hi all,
I have the wii havent downloaded any VC games yet.
I just wanted to know i read that you cannot save them in any portable device ( which i understand cause then ppl would share em and nintendo does not want that)
but. what happens for some odd reason my wii gets erased?
Then how do i get them back? they will stay on my account? what happens in 10 years if nintendo takes down the Wii connect 24 then all my games will BE LOST!!!

So thats why i havent download anything yet.
Should i get over my phobia and start downloading? will nintendo keep connect 24 open long?

THe games you purchase are yours to keep whether you are connected online or not. You can save them to a memory card and even take the games to your friends house to play on his wii. Wiiconnect is merely your system staying connected to the net 24/7. Its nothing special. I dont even have my Wiiconnect turned on.

How come i read on the online policy that you cannot make backups??

You cannot transfer your games from your card to another Wii but you can play off the card. If you wish to bring your card to another Wii then yes you can play the game but you cannot transfer the files over.
