Oblivion is never too old to buy, its an average of 100 hours of gameplay and still one of 360's best RPGs. Gears of War 2 is coming soon (supposibly november) that might not be worth buying.

    Anyway I would recommend

    Call of Duty 4
    Oblivion GOTY Edition
    Mass Effect
    The Orange Box
    Bioshock
Lost Odyssey if you like turn-base RPG like Final Fantasy VII

There's alot of games that would be nice to buy, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

It also depends on what genres you're into.

    Lost Odyssey
    Gears Of War
    Devil May Cry 4
    The Orange Box
    Mass Effect
    Castlevania: SOTN
    Guitar Hero: III
    The Darkness
    Bioshock
    Oblivion
    Rainbow Six Vegas
    Dead Or Alive 4
    Street Fighter II HF
    Sonic The Hedgehog 2
    Lost Planet
    Smash TV
    WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2008
    Eternal Sonata
    Virtua Fighter 5

Not sure if I should recommend Blue Dragon.

Course, as soon as you get your 360 and connect it to the internet, you can download the demos of most of those games before purchasing them. As you already know, Rez HD is a great game. You can also look forward to upcoming games this year like Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears Of War 2, GTA IV, Cry On (hopefully), Frontlines: Fuel of War, and more.

Don't forget, that there's a new Launcher that you can download in the Marketplace to download community created games like The Dishwasher, JellyCar, Little Gamers, etc.
