WIFI and Wii. but my DS connects?

Just a quick question. I've had it up to here with the wii trying to connect to my wireless router. I've tried everything under the sun. between websites and forums and manuals I can't get this unit working.

The thing is. I stopped and thought... "maybe I'm missing something really simple" So I reset everything. brought out the DS and setup from scratch, doing the DS alongside the Wii.

Now this is were I get frustrated. While the Wii still can't connect. (oh it finds the SSID fine) the DS just goes, *TA-DAH!* please help. I'm really lost here.

mine did this when i was using a wifi max to connect. it was behind a firewall

Firewall question.

Ok.. so just to be sure. Is this the firewall that's operating on the router or the firewall that windows runs? (I'm sure I've got one through NTL as well)
