^^ 3 biggest titles of the year for Nintendo IMO (if they don't get Animal Crossing or anything like that released in 08').

Thanks for the list, Brandon.

^ Agreed, I'd like to see how sonic riders turned out too, no review on gamespot yet.

Remember, this is only the first half. (And I expect more to be added)

And I haven't heard of The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors. What is it about?

One of the 1st title names released for Wii. It almost looks like a "cartoony" Oblivion, which is wicked.

Originally planned to be a launch game for the Wii,[5] Dragon Quest Swords was first released July 12, 2007 in Japan. The game will be released in North America in early 2008. Under the spotlight of E3 2006 and in an unprecedented show of software support for a Nintendo console, Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest Swords and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers would be exclusive Wii titles.[6] In a company press release, executive producer Yuu Miyake stated:[4]
“ Since 1986 the Dragon Quest series has gained acceptance around the world, and has been a staple of the videogame industry. We believe its appeal lies in simplicity that anyone can enjoy, and the excitement of becoming a hero in an epic adventure. With the Nintendo (Wii), we believe that these aspects of the Dragon Quest experience can be taken to a whole new level of fun and interaction. ”

The Dragon Quest Swords development team includes many of the original designers of Enix's flagship series. Creator Yuuji Horii was one of the first game designers Nintendo president Satoru Iwata approached with the prototype Revolution controller. Horii contributed a video interview to Nintendo's Tokyo Game Show 2005 Revolution press conference. In it, he talked about making games accessible to a greater market, and cutting to the essence of "fun."[7] When asked about Nintendo's Wii Remote, Horii stated "I agree that many interesting games can be created using this controller, but I still think that Nintendo would probably make the best games.[8] Horii is joined by famed Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and "the father of video game music" composer Koichi Sugiyama.[6]

According to video game website IGN, Square Enix representatives have branded Dragon Quest Swords a sequel to Kenshin Dragon Quest, a motion-activated plug-and-play TV game.[9] In a detailed preview of Dragon Quest Swords, IGN speculated that the game mechanics will be similar to those featured in Kenshin.[9] A short teaser video of a first-person perspective battle sequence appeared to confirm IGN's speculation as the onscreen protagonist mimicked the swordfighting antics of the Revolution Remote wielder.[10] Furthermore, Square Enix stated in a press release that the game "is being developed with every aspect of the unique Wii hardware in mind."[4] It has also recently been announced that the North Americian version will have extra features such as a playback mode and four hidden bosses. [edit] Battle System

Dragon Quest Swords utilizes a Battle System reminiscent to those of First Person Rail Shooter games such as House of the Dead. However, instead of using a handgun, Dragon Quest Swords uses the functions of the Wii Remote as a Sword and a Shield. The direction of a sword slash is dependent on the direction the player sways the Wii Remote. In order to defend from incoming attacks, the player also has to use the Wii Remote while holding the A button while blocking the exact location of an enemy's attack on the screen. A special attack can be unleashed once the special attack gauge is filled. The gauge is filled when you hit enemies with your sword. Only your allies (Dean, Baud or Setia) can cast magic. The player can set how frequently they use magic or they can use magic manually by bringing up the menu. The player may access the menu screen while in battle by pressing the minus button.

Mario Kart, No More Heroes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Alone In The Dark, Major League Baseball 2K8, Okami and Bully: Scholarship Edition are what I am interested in most this year. If Animal Crossing does come out this year I will get that as well, also maybe Red Steel 2? Doubtful, but I do hope some news comes out at least about Starfox and Donkey Kong Wii. Game you mentioned Tyler sounds and looks pretty good as well, may have to look into that.

Maybe the first-half will have a lot of good games, and the second-half will have some good games as well as news about new games. I guess thats a given though, as E3 always has new game info

Pumped for 08!

Haha, yeah. Not to mention that 08' is also looking pretty nice for the other systems as well.

On the note of Donkey Kong Wii, I'm willing to wait till even 2010 for an incredible sequel to DK64. What a game that was.

Donkey Kong Wii FTW. I think if we got a true sequel to 64, I'd know my GOTY...
Definitely. As long as it's not a Galaxy repeat. That would suck.

i wouldn't mind another game like dk64 either. i lofe donkey kong games. but they have to make sure that there is a lot less collecting involved.

about the list... i only see a few thing that i would most likely buy. brawl for sure. mario kart and maybe no more heroes.

It was starting to catch my interest until I saw thats a first person rail... Thats gay, seriously... Especially for a RPG game that uses a sword.

It's a rail!?

Thanks for the list! Definitely looking forward to Smash Bros and Mario Kart. I'd love to see a Donkey Kong game based like the N64 version. I'd also be interested in a new Castlevania game...imagine cracking the whip with the remote :)

These are the games I will be keeping an eye on yet I'm way more excited to see what comes out in japan next year since thats where the real heat will be! Lots of games are left off this list also. I think lots of publishers are waiting to see what happens with brawl and no more heros. Yet there are games in gjapan that I know I'm going to buy as soon as I can get them.
