I was playing Zelda, I kept playing the part where you need to escort the carriage to Kakariko village and boom!!! my Wii just froze on me and was making a distinct loud noise like a subwoofer makes when plugged in the wrong way, very loud, I thought it might go away but it didn't I waited for 10 minutes and it kept going, I had to hold the power button down on the console and it finnaly shutdown and it was fine after that, I could understand if I had been playing for 24 hours straight or something but it was more like 4-6 hours. I hope this doesn't happen again otherwise I fill have to trade it in for a new one. Has anyone else had this happen?

alot of people had it happen, like 5 times to me, 1 time with the sound, mostly on internet channel, time with sound was in carbon. 1 time in mii channel (or 2) 3 in internet channel (3-5 actually) and 1 time in game, but i just discovered my bottom fan was blocked by dust (on the floor, havent moved it since i got it, in stand) so don't worry it happens to all consoles

What would be the best way to prevent this from hapenning, console position, cooling stand? Thanks for the help.

i found uninstalling the internet beta channel helped, standing is cooler (for me) make sure u have plenty of air flow around the wii and a cooling stand may help

I have mine horizontal (more then 1foot space between airways), and have never experienced a problem with my wii yet.

in touch with the wii said:
is this noise a loud beep
What does that mean? Because when I was playing red steel suddenly my Wii Froze and it make a loud beeping sound

You should be monitoring what your Wiis do (if ur having problems) cause multiple problems shouldnt occur.. or uve probably got urself a faulty wii.

I've heard that sound as well, when my Wii browser froze up. In fact it's only while using the browser I've had any problems (it sometimes freezes, but only once did it make a noise).

I wonder if Nintendo will fix this problem, I will end up writting to them sometime this week, and reference them to this forum so they can see multiple people are having these freezing issues, it will be intersting to see what they say, if anyone wants to they can go ahead and do the same thing.
Thanks for evryones feedback.

Just sent the e-mail, they should respond 4-5 days. I'll update here when they do.
