Wii isn't picking up wireless network

I have a wireless network which is connected by a Siemens 572 adaptor. I've just tried connecting the Wii to it for the first time, but it's not picking up my network. For the record the adaptor is downstairs, and the Wii is upstairs so I'm wondering if maybe the distance is the issue?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
