Wii online gaming?

As I was playing my call of duty 3 I realized that i really missed the online multiplayer that my computer had. I know xbox can play online, but what about the wii? I have looked all around in the options, etc but there doesn't seem to be any way to play games online.
is there online multiplayer for wii games? if not will there ever be?
also can it play dvds and cds? (what about mp3 cds?)
Everybody talks about what it does so it's hard to find what it doesn't do...

it CAN play multiplay online, it just hasn't released any games that do so just yet. so yes, multiplayer is coming. no it can't play DVDs, they left that out because 1) it keeps the cost of the Wii down and 2) they figured (correctly) that most people already have multiple DVD players and including one in the system wasn't a neccesity. I'm not sure about CD playing as I've yet to try, but from what I'm hearing it cannot. And have no clue about mp3. I know you can stream music from the web through the Wii opera browser though.

Online games will start coming March 30 I believe. It cannot play DVDs although I am not sure about CDs but it probably can't.
