Wii regions

Since we are a family we may move every couple of years to different countries, I don't want to spend a lot of money investing in a console and software that won't be compatible wherever we end up.

So, can someone let me know what the regions are for Wii? For example, Japanese games do not normally play on US consoles due to region "codes", at least from what I gather, and vice versa?

So, I want to make sure that the console I buy in the Asian country I live in works for a variety of Asian countries.

Thanks,

Just get a mod chip before you leave to make all regional games work, or buy them and have them shipped from a store where you used to live. I'm sure shipping wouldn't be over $5 each.

I actually bought a modified console in December, and now the games my mother sent from the US for Christmas doesn't work. You can see the start up screen of the game, and then when you click to actually start it, the screen goes black and it freezes.
