Wii-Remote... should I get it?

Well, you all know about the promotional item from Club Nintendo that was giving out. It's a Wii-Mote, but not for the Wii itself. It's a TV remote. Well, I REALY want to get one, preferably before I obtain a Wii, just so I can hold the Wii-Mote beforehand. Also, it would be realy cool just to have it, and use it as a TV remote, and of course, on the TV I play my Wii on. =D

But my question is, I don't know if I should get it. I'm not all that sure if they work on TV's in America, since it was made in japan... And they aren't exactly cheap... (http://search.ebay.com/wii-remote_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8)

it might not work, japanese tvs will most likely decipher the bluetooth signal different
