Wii U voice chat with third party head sets.

Nintendo have stated that 3rd party headsets by brands such as Turtle Beach will plug into the headphone port on the gamepad.... what i find odd is to power my turtle beach headset it has to be plugged into a usb port. This means you would have to sit directly infront of the Wii U to use the headset....

Anyone Else slightly concerned by this?
