Super Metroid (Super NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Violence, 800 Wii Points): The Space Pirates, merciless agents of the evil Mother Brain, have stolen the last Metroid from a research station, and once again Mother Brain threatens the safety of the galaxy. Samus Aran must don her awesome array of high-tech weaponry to retrieve the deadly Metroid hidden deep within the cave-riddled planet Zebes. Super Metroid features excellent graphics, with a huge variety of enemies and worlds to explore. The side-view action will be familiar to many players, only now there are new weapons and items, including the Grappling Beam, which allows Samus to swing across large chasms, and the X-Ray Scope, which reveals secret passages.

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older – Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): In this thrilling sequel to The Revenge of Shinobi, Joe Musashi finds that Neo Zeed – the crime syndicate he believed he had wiped out two years earlier – is indeed still alive and well. The return of Neo Zeed and its leader, the mysterious Shadow Master, forces Musashi to return from exile and confront the growing evil. As the Shinobi, the master of long-forgotten Oboro Ninjitsu martial arts, Musashi must utilize all his powers to overcome his various enemies. Thanks to his considerable combat skills and special Ninjitsu moves, only the Shinobi can thwart Neo Zeed and vanquish the Shadow Master.

Neutopia (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): In this action role-playing game, you take control of a brave boy who sets off on a journey to rescue the kidnapped princess and reclaim the eight medallions that were stolen by the evil demon, Dirth. You'll need to rely on your magic compass and information you've gathered to find entrances to labyrinths and defeat the bosses in them. Solve puzzles, avoid traps, move blocks and destroy walls to uncover secret rooms in the labyrinths. Carefully use your map to uncover hidden treasure and powerful equipment. Travel the land, underground, sea and sky on your quest to recover the medallions. With a save function, the right difficulty level and a system that doesn't include experience points, this is truly an RPG that anyone can enjoy.

Obviously one of the best release dates in a while.

I just beat metroid yesterday. I still have that whole damned game memorized. It probably wastes 10% of my brain permanently.

Speaking of which......Metroid for VC is flawed.....we have a VERY difficult time rolling into a ball, in lava, and dropping bombs in the sequence to blow yourself up out the water. Remember the boss ( I think Ridley) that youfight next to the lava and there is a tricky energy tank on the edge but down below next to the lava? you cannot just drop bombs like 1...2....3....up, up up.......you get one bomb if you are lucky.......I had to get out of the lava a different way and get the energy tank a different way too......Im not describing this very well, but its an important part of the game.......hope they fix. Dropping the bombs to move yourself up when you arent in lava works, so I didnt notice anything wrong until I played it a ways.

I had Revenge of Shinobi which was wicked fun, although very tough. How does Shinobi 3 stack up to it?

I know which one you're talking about. Can't you just roll off the ledge above it and then press right?

damn, you know EXACTLY what im talking about......well yes....you are dead on. I was USED to bombing up to get it.......after you kill the boss, you are low on energy obviously, and I was in panic mode trying not to die. so I thought for a second (I kept trying to roll from the left to no avail)...... and realized I could roll from the right and I got it with barely any energy......

I beat the game in about 3 hours without help.....not bad for not playing it in......god......I really dont know.....definitely the 90's? I actually got the ending where you have your suit on and you take off your helmet (I died a zillion times playing with my neighbor who was getting the hang of it), and told my neighbor....."look, all this time, and you were actually Geddy Lee from Rush"! No space ass for me this time......I played the game all day, the least she could do is show me some pale sweaty space suit 'tang. I think I just disturbed myself actually.

I could never beat the last boss either. Maybe this time around I will be able to finally beat the game.

Its the same type of game (durr)
The only real diffrence is the levels (well it is the sequal)
    And that horse back stage

Instead of wasteing money on one Sega VC game get the Genisis collection for PS2/PSP(Dont know how much it is in the US but its only £15 over here)

Beath of fire 2 anybody ?
Also Shining force is a good one that will take a while to do

Soon the US will get Breath of Fire 2.

Fact: The person who voice acted Samus Aran in Super Metriod was... Dan Owsen. One of the lead translators for Nintendo. They tweaked his voice to sound female. I think they did that as a joke.

hey thanks. I'll have to take a look at that for ps2. Although the conveniance of VC does tend to trump all else. But i'll definetly give it a looksie

What are you talking about ? Samus never talked in super metroid. The intro had her face and then typing in front of it. The only voice in super metroid was the "The last metroid is in captivity, the galaxy is at peace" and that wasn't samus aran saying that. Are you saying that female voice was actually a man?

That is, in fact, exactly what he is saying.
